Doctor of the Day

As Doctor of the Day, you will work in the Medical Aid Station at the State Capitol, providing free minor medical care to legislators and their staff members.

How to Volunteer to be a Doctor of the Day

Thank you for your interest in serving as Doctor of the Day for the 2012 General Assembly Session. Please complete the form attached below. Your home address is required to verify your legislators. It is vital that you provide an e-mail address you use frequently because all the information you will need, including parking passes and maps, will be sent via e-mail only. Also, please e-mail a brief bio with your completed form. The bio will be e-mailed to your legislator and they will use the information for your introduction in the House and Senate chambers on the day you serve. When your completed application form is received, you will be contacted via e-mail regarding the Doctor of the Day details which will be handled for you by MAG staff. If you have any questions or to return the completed form with bio, please e-mail Liz Bullock at ebullock@mag.org.

Typical Day at the Capitol

  • You should arrive at the Capitol no later than 9 a.m. You will go directly to the Legislative Medical Aid Station located on the second floor. Plan to be at the Capitol from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., even though you may finish earlier.
  • You will be introduced in both the House and the Senate chambers at the beginning of the Session Day.
  • Every day of the session a doctor and nurse provide minor medical care at the Capitol’s Medical Aid Station. You are strongly encouraged to bring your “black bag” and a prescription pad.
  • MAG staff will be available at the Capitol to answer any questions you have.

This program is a non-political service MAG provides to Georgia legislators. You will not be asked to, and we request that you do not lobby when you serve as Doctor of the Day.
